Exhibition and signing of the artist Joanna Concejo

The author and illustrator Joanna Concejo will be visiting Belgium for workshops, book signing sessions and an exhibition in Liège and Brussels.

These events are the initiative of the bookshop La Grande Ourse and Les Ateliers du Texte et de l’Image.

Located in Liège, Les Ateliers du Texte et de l’Image is a non-profit organization whose mission is to manage, preserve and promote the Michel Defourny Fund: an exceptional documentary center in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, composed of some 85,000 works and specialized in children’s literature and illustration. This collection is currently attached to the Fonds Patrimoniaux Liégeois.

Monday 22 November> Meeting and discussion at the Centre culturel des Chiroux 

Wednesday 24 November  > Meeting with Joanna Concejo & opening at the bookshop La Grande Ourse organized by Voix de Femmes  

– In Bruxelles –

Saturday 27 November from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. > Signing session at Librairie Tropismes 

In addition to these events, Joanna Concejo will lead workshops for students of the Ecole Supérieure des Arts St-Luc de Liège


Joanna Concejo 

Joanna Concejo is a Polish illustrator and visual artist born on March 22, 1971 in Supsk, and living since 1994 in Paris.

In 1998, she graduated in drawing and illustration from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. She also teaches in two art schools in Italy, Ars in Fabula in Macerata and Scuola Internazionale d’Illustrazione in Sarmede. In parallel to her activity as an illustrator, she is interested in the field of art and sculpture and she regularly collaborates with the Petit Atelier de Paris. Since 2007, she has turned to the production of illustrated books where she already has numerous publications and collaborations particularly in the realization of albums of illustration of stories and tales for youth.

Her latest album M comme la mer is a deeply moving album about happiness, pain and the quest for self. His illustrations of an absolute delicacy sublimate a text of a great depth.
