Exhibition “John Paul II: the man of culture” as part of the Esch-sur-Alzette – european capital of culture 2022 programme

On 18 November-19 December 2022 in Esch-sur-Alzette, exhibition “John Paul II – Man and Culture” will take place as part of the programme of Esch-sur-Alzette, European Capital of Culture 2022.

The exhibition, prepared by the Museum of the Holy Father John Paul II Family Home in Wadowice, depicts various aspects of the life of the late Pope, Saint John Paul II, with a special focus on his commitment to culture and education. The exhibition makes a reference to the famous speech of John Paul II in the UNESCO headquarters concerning the role of culture in a nation’s history. It also draws on his reflections concerning the sense of memory and identity from the point of view of both individuals and nations.

It will be accompanied by a retrospective photographic exhibition “Pope John Paul II in Esch-sur-Alzette”, executed by Fernand Konnen.
