EXHIBITION, LECTURE & FILM: Polish and Ukrainian comics in Luxembourg
The history of Polish comics is full of coincidences and twists. Who can know more about this than a comic book publisher? Meet Szymon Holcman – art director at the publishing house „Kultura Gniewu” and an expert on cinema and animated films. He has published more than 120 comic books and has won numerous awards for his work in the field of Polish culture.
Szymon Holcman will visit Luxembourg on June 17 to talk about the history of Polish comics, and its creators and discuss its possible future. The lecture will be followed by a screening of a film about Poland’s most famous comic book creator. The movie “Comic Book: a Superhero from Communist Poland” tells the story of the life and work of Henryk Jerzy Chmielewski, better known as “Papcio Chmiel” – creator of the famous comic strip “Tytus, Romek and A’Tomek”.
