Conceptual artist Agnieszka Kurant (b. 1978, Łódź, Poland) lives and works in New York. Her work explores how economic, social and cultural systems operate in ways that blur the line between reality and fiction. She creates conditions in which unpredictable, unstable forms emerge or crystallise from complex systems human and non-human agents: millions of molecules, microbes, termites, ghost workers or protesters.
Many of her works emulate nature and behave like living organisms, self-organised complex systems or autono- mous machines. She brings to life hybrid forms that oscillate between digital, biological and mineral, between natural and artificial, real and virtual, life and non-life, deep past and deep future.
During the ‘Errorism’ exhibition, Kurant presents a collection of works shown in recent years at the Guggenheim Museum (New York), Castello di Rivoli (Turin) and Centre Pompidou (Paris).
