Dobrawa Czocher is a Polish cellist and composer whose work moves fluidly between classical precision and contemporary experimentation. A graduate of the Chopin University of Music and the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, she was leader-soloist with the Mieczysław Karłowicz Symphony Orchestra from 2018 to 2023, while developing her solo career at the intersection of classical and contemporary music.
Renowned for pushing the expressive boundaries of the cello, she collaborates in particular with Hania Rani on the album Inner Symphonies, issued by Deutsche Grammophon. In 2023, her solo debut Dreamscapes (BMG/Modern Recordings) earned critical acclaim and multiple nominations at the Opus Klassik.
She continues her work across concert music, theatre productions and site-specific composition, notably with the opera D’arc and the play Sonata for Solo Cello: Joanna’s Tale.
With her new album State of Matter, released in March 2026 on the 130701 label (FatCat Records), Dobrawa Czocher opens a new chapter in her songwriting. Recorded after she moved to the Polish Baltic coast, the album explores more electronic and rhythmic textures, blending percussive cello, synthesisers and layered vocals. The single ‘Blue’ offers a glimpse of the album’s early direction: an ever-changing world, blending movement, nature and sonic transformation.
