Exhibition “THE UNIVERSE OF THORGAL”

THORGAL, the hero of the epic illustrated saga drawn by Grzegorz ROSIŃSKI and scripted by Jean VAN HAMME, takes centre stage in a second exhibition which is being held at the Belgian Comic Strip Center: THE UNIVERSE OF THORGAL, part two of the Rosiński – Thorgal – Van Hamme triptych. Together with ROSIŃSKI FROM POLAND, this new exhibition gives pride of place to the series Les Mondes de Thorgal, which comprises three cycles: Kriss de ValnorLouve and La jeunesse de Thorgal. Thus, alongside original works by Grzegorz ROSIŃSKI, who has been transferring his colours directly to the plates since the noughties, visitors will be able to discover the drawings of Giulio DE VITA (from the Kriss de Valnor cycle) and Roman SURZHENKO (from the other two cycles), aided by outstanding scriptwriters: Jean VAN HAMME (Thorgal), Yves SENTE (Kriss de Valnorr) and Yann (LouveLa jeunesse de Thorgal).

Under the Patronage of His Excellency Mr Artur Harazim, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Belgium

Grzegorz ROSIŃSKI
When he discovered comic books in 1953, Grzegorz Rosiński, then aged 12, knew that his future would reside in this new medium. Indeed, telling the stories found in comic books became part of his daily life, well before he met the scriptwriter Jean Van Hamme in 1976. Now, the public knows the series Thorgal well. It was a joint project between the two men, complete with Rosiński’s very distinctive drawings, plausible stories and typical readability.
