Cardinal Bolesław Kominek – an unrecognized father of Europe

The exhibition entitled Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Cardinal Bolesław Kominek – an unrecognized father of Europe, which will be officially opened in Palais des Beaux Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels on 8 June 2017, presents the profile of Bolesław Kominek, an archbishop of Wrocław and the author of the Letter sent in 1965 by Polish bishops to their German counterparts, containing the famous sentence: “We forgive and we ask for forgiveness”. This multimedia exhibition [prepared by TEMPORA, which is – in some part – also addressed to children, is based on three acts:
  • In the shadow of Hitler: 1939–1945
  • In the shadow of Stalin: 1945–1956
  • Path to reconciliation: 1956–1974
The exhibition – to be seen at BOZAR from 8 June until 30 July 2017 – is available for visitors in the Polish, French, English, German, and Dutch language. Previously, the exhibition has traveled to Rome, Berlin and Wrocław.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday 8 June at 18:30 in the presence of Rafał DUTKIEWICZ, Mayor of the City of Wrocław, Paul DUJARDIN, BOZAR CEO, Antoinette SPAAK, Chairman of the Museum of Europe, and Willy MICHIELSEN and Benoît REMICHE from Tempora.
