The 60th anniversary of the discovery of paintings of the cathedral in Faras (Sudan) by Polish archaeologists

The fascinating collection of ancient Nubian art from Faras, discovered and saved by Poles on the territory of present-day Sudan, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. To mark the anniversary, the National Museum in Warsaw, which houses part of the collection from this site, has prepared a series of scientific and educational events that will bring closer its history and the achievements of Polish archaeologists.

These activities herald the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first Faras Gallery at the National Museum in Warsaw in 2022.
