As part of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the film Three Minutes – A Lengthening, directed by Bianca Stigter, will be screened on 31 January 2023 at Bozar. The film is based on a 3-minute amateur film by David Kurtz showing a Jewish town in Poland before the tragedy of the Holocaust in 1938.
These precious minutes are examined moment by moment to reveal the human stories hidden in the film, beginning with Glenn Kurtz’s journey to learn more about his grandfather’s film. The documentary leads to the discovery of people and places erased from history and helps reconnect a Holocaust survivor to his lost childhood.
The film is co-produced by Steve McQueen and narrated by Helena Bonham Carter.
This film will be screened thanks to the initiative of IMAJ – Institut de la Mémoire Audiovisuelle Juive and the Polish Institute in Brussels.
