Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Films at Flagey

In the mesmerizing world of cinema, few directors have left an indelible mark like Krzysztof Kieślowski. Known for his profound storytelling and masterful craftsmanship, Kieślowski’s films still captivate audiences around the globe. This July and August, film lovers are in for a treat as Flagey presents a series of screenings featuring some of Kieślowski’s most iconic works.

The Three Colors Trilogy

Watch the acclaimed Three Colors Trilogy, comprising “Three Colors: Blue” (1993), “Three Colors: White” (1993) and “Three Colors: Red” (1994). Each film represents one of the three principles of the French Revolution: liberty, equality, and fraternity. With remarkable performances and Kieślowski’s signature visual style, these films explore profound themes of love, loss, and human connection.

“The Double Life of Veronique”

In addition to the Three Colors Trilogy, Flagey will show “The Double Life of Véronique” (1991). This enigmatic and poetic film takes us into the parallel lives of two women, both played brilliantly by Irène Jacob. Through beautiful visuals and, Kieślowski show us a tale of identity, destiny and the interconnections of lives.

Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941-1996) – one of the greatest Polish filmmakers who left an undeniable impact on the world of cinema. With a career spanning over three decades, Kieślowski’s works received critical acclaim and numerous awards, including multiple honors at the Cannes Film Festival. Known for his poetic storytelling, attention to detail, and exploration of ethical and moral dilemmas, Kieślowski’s films continue to inspire filmmakers and audiences worldwide. In 2002, Kieślowski was listed at number two on the British Film Institute’s Sight & Sound list of the top ten film directors of modern times. In 2007, Total Film magazine ranked him at No. 47 on its “100 Greatest Film Directors Ever” list.
