On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory of the Warsaw University, the Polish Institute in Kyiv together with the Center of East European Studies of the Warsaw University invited Polish director Wiesław Romanowski to make the documentary film “The Observatory”, which tells the story of creation of this majestic building that was constructed in 1938 on the Pip Ivan mountain. Currently the observatory is being reconstructed, and at the time of its construction it was the most modern object of this kind in Poland and one of the two most modern mountain observatories in Europe.
