In this fast growing sport revival, competitors will fight with steel weapons while wearing real steel armours, in different categories: Duels in technical fencing with a range of weapons, and Melees (group battles) of 5vs5, 10vs10 and 16vs16, where the goal is to take the other team to the ground. At the end of each day, the audience will witness big mass battles with dozen of steel warriors fighting for the victory. The hits during those fights are real and given at full speed, full power with hard steel weapons. Very few techniques are forbidden which make this sport a mix between MMA, Rugby, American football and Fencing, all in unique medieval atmosphere. To quote Hubert Filipiak president of the IMCF: as epic as it gets!
Medieval Combat is a sport, officially registered in the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine. Steel weapons and armours are allowed for adult sportsmen, while children practise and fight in medieval soft kit, what will be also presented during four days of the Championship.
