At the 6th International History Film Festival “Beyond Time” we will present two films:
”Forever a Pilot of the Spitfire” documentary | 95’ | 2018 | directed by Slawomir Ciok | Poland-UK | The film will be shown in English with Ukrainian subtitles | April 13 at 15:30
This is the story of Polish pilot Alexander Herbst (Alex Herbst) of the No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron. He completed 141 combat missions on the legendary Spitfire fighter plane, including a mission during the Allied invasion of Normandy.
“The Observatory” documentary | 36’ | 2018 | directed by Wiesław Romanowski | Poland-UK | The film will be shown in Polish with Ukrainian subtitles | April 14 at 16:30
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory of the Warsaw University, the Polish Institute in Kyiv together with the Center of East European Studies of the Warsaw University invited Polish director Wiesław Romanowski to make the documentary film “The Observatory”, which tells the story of creation of this majestic building that was constructed in 1938 on the Pip Ivan mountain. Currently the observatory is being reconstructed, and at the time of its construction it was the most modern object of this kind in Poland and one of the two most modern mountain observatories in Europe.
