Guest – Jerzy Stępień, former chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Poland
Jerzy Stępień is the director of the Public Sector and Social Policy Institute of the Lazarski University in Warsaw and the vice president of the Founders’ Board of the Foundation of the Local Democracy Development.
In 1980s he was an active member of the “Solidarity” trade union movement and in 1989 participated in the “Round Table”.
In 1989-1993 he was a senator of the RP, chairman of the Commission for territorial self-government and state administration.
In 1997 – 1999 he was the deputy minister of internal affairs and administration.
In 1999 – 2008 he was a judge of the Constitutional Court and in 2006-2008 – the chairman of this Court.
“European Experience: Poland” is a cycle of meetings with prominent persons who influence state functioning and creation of image of Poland both within the country and beyond with their actions and reflections. The experience of being in Europe is not just geopolitics and culture, but also the ability of a person to be the source of changes. We want to present to Ukrainians people who rise above particularism in their serving to public interests.
Guests of the project are Grzegorz Gauden, Waldemar Dombrowski, Maciej Nowak, Agnieszka Odorowicz, Paweł Potoroczyn, Jadwiga Staniszkis, Bogdan Lis and Jerzy Borowczak. The project is undertaken together with “Ye” bookshop and “Ukrainskyi Tyzhden”.
