12th International Forum “Music of the Young” (IFMY) will take place from March 11 to 30, 2013 in Kyiv and Lviv. This time it will be held in the format of the Ukrainian New Music Biennale, which will consist of 2nd Kyiv International New Music Master Classes COURSE, Laboratory of Musical Criticize and 14 concerts of new music performed by Ukrainian and European collectives.
The organizers are the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the National Composers’ Union of Ukraine. The co-organizers are the Institute of Modern Art, Lviv Oblast Philharmonic, Goethe-Institut, Polish Institute in Kyiv, French Institute in Ukraine, Austrian Culture Forum, and Czech Institute.
The event will include the following actions with participation of the following Polish musicians:
– conductor Grzegorz Wierus with the Ukrainian collective Ensemble Nostri Temporis will hold the final concert of the COURSE.
– music critic and editor of the Ruch Muzyczny magazine Monika Pasiecznik will give lectures “The Contexts of New Music” in Kyiv and Lviv as part of the Laboratory of Musical Criticize (the lectures are dedicated to the German philosopher Harry Lehmann), present Polish music magazines Ruch Muzyczny and Glissando, and give the foreword to the concert performances of Witold Lutosławski’s String Quartet.
– string quartet NeoQuartet will play the program of new works of young Polish and Ukrainian composers and perform Witold Lutosławski’s String Quartet.
