Włodzimierz Borodziej is a historian (specializing in contemporary history), lecturer of the Warsaw University (professor of the department of the 20th century history), and editor-in-chief of the series of publications “Polish diplomatic documents” of the Polish Institute of International Relations.

He participated in many international conferences, taught in German universities, in particular in Marburg and Jena, and was awarded the Herder Prize (2006).  He is the author of the following books.
