Magdalena Komornicka is an art historian, exhibition producer and curator. Since 2012 she is a part of the curatorial team at Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw where she was involved in the making of numerous exhibitions. Recently she co-curated Views 2015 – Deutsche Bank Award exhibition. In a curatorial collective, she organizes the music festival The Artists. Visual Artists’ Concerts and Sound Projects held annually since 2013.
Kyiv Art Week, a huge cultural event, will take place in Ukrainian capital for the time during June 15-20, 2016. Implementing the famous international format, Kyiv Art Week will bring together museums’ and galleries’ projects, art fair, conference with the participation of international experts, concerts, performances and social events.
‘Symbolically, the first Kyiv Art Week will be held along with Art Basel, which can be called a standard among art fairs’, – said Evhen Bereznytskyi, the curator of the project, – ‘Since 1970 Art Basel has been involving nearly 300 galleries from around the world, representing about 4000 of artists. Our task is no less ambitious. Kyiv Art Week is going to become an annual event representing the best Ukrainian and world art. We want the city to appear on the cultural map of international art weeks and gain its proper place alongside with Western counterparts’.
Kyiv Art Week will start with the art fair uniting more than 20 galleries from 7 countries: France, Georgia, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Armenia. In addition, D12 will become an exhibition space for private collections of contemporary Ukrainian collectors, including the collection of Igor Voronov, №1 in the top 30 Ukrainian collectors according to Forbes Ukraine.
