Laboratory of Dramaturgy 🗺
On June 28 the first Laboratory of dramaturgy of the National Theater Workers’ Union of Ukraine has begun its work in Kyiv. It is curated by Pavlo Arie, a well-known Ukrainian playwright and a graduate of the Royal Court Theater school who had dreamed about creation of a dramaturgy school in Ukraine for a long time.
The first residence will last for 8 days and will include workshops and master classes with directors, psychologists, and playwrights.
15 participants who have been selected on a competitive basis will study the rules of building the plot line, characteristics of personages, special features of child psychology and perception depending on the age, aspects of dramaturgy for a puppet show using various types of puppets and human actors, particularities of musical-dramatic pieces for children, etc.
In addition to prominent Ukrainian playwrights, directors, and teachers Natalia Vorozhbyt, Iryna Harets, Mykhailo Urytskyi etc., the group of international tutors of the Laboratory will be headed by Polish author and playwright Malina Prześluga (study unit: “How to write for children? The Polish experience”).
The Kyiv Academic Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank plans to stage one of the plays that will be created in the Laboratory.
