The name of the winner will be announced on November 15.

The Joseph Conrad Literary Award was founded in 2007 and is awarded once in two years. This year’s prize will be awarded for the seventh time.

The prize is awarded to a living Ukrainian author less than 40 years of age regardless of their place of residence for prose works in Ukrainian that address relevant topics, promote reflection, increase knowledge about other cultures. The jury will appraise only prose works of candidates and will not consider their works of poetry, dramaturgy, and literary criticism.

The laureate of the 2019 award will receive:

  • the diploma and money prize in the amount of 3000 Euro from the Polish Institute in Kyiv,
  • 6 month scholarship in Poland in 2020 as part of the scholarship program of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland “GAUDE POLONIA” from the Partner of the Award, the National Center of Culture in Warsaw.
