Order No. 00485. Anti-Polish operation of NKVD in Soviet Ukraine 1937–1938 🗺
The Institute of National Memory, Polish Institute in Kyiv and National Historical and Architectural Museum “The Kyiv Fortress” would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition “Order No. 00485. Anti-Polish operation of NKVD in Soviet Ukraine 1937–1938”.
The 16 exhibition stands present fates of those repressed during the “Anti-Polish Operation” of NKVD in the Soviet Union in 1937–1938, when more than 143 thousand people were arrested. At least 111 thousand of them were sentenced to death penalty. Almost 30 thousand Poles were sent to camps. In Ukraine only, where the most Poles lived during the Soviet time, 55 928 people were sentenced, 47 327 of them killed.
The exhibition is based on archive materials that were transferred to the Polish Institute of National Memory by Ukrainian oblast state archives in Odesa, Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia.
The formal opening of the exhibition will take place on November 20, 2019 at 16:00 in the National Historical and Architectural Museum “The Kyiv Fortress” (Hospitalna st., 24a, the Fireplace Hall).
