Sound in the Silence is an intercultural remembrance project that brings together young people from different countries to explore history through artistic practice.

This year’s edition will take place in Gernika, focusing on the bombing of the town in 1937 and the broader context of the Spanish Civil War. Through workshops in creative writing, movement, and voice, participants will engage with themes of violence, memory, disinformation, and resilience, connecting past events with present-day challenges.

The project offers a unique combination of:
– historical reflection in a meaningful place
– collaboration with international artists
– creative expression as a way of engaging with difficult pasts
– intercultural exchange among young participants

At the same time, teachers will take part in a dedicated programme focused on professional exchange and innovative approaches to teaching history.

Applications can be submitted by teachers only, on behalf of their class.
