Modern Jazz/Cross over (Etno&Classical)

P.G.R. – in short „Project (of) Grzegorz Rogala”, is a jazz project expressing the idea of connecting cultures and musical genres. It includes influences from ethnic music, classical, hip-hop, and even biblical themes, as can be heard on the albums Enthuzjazzm (2011), Poezjazz (2014), Polish Psalter (2020), and Polish Psalter vol 2 (2023). The latest edition of P.G.R. is an expedition to which Rogala invited Anders Grop from Sweden and Frank Parker from the USA, as well as an outstanding jazz saxophonist from Germany. Roman Ott is a unique saxophone talent; his distinctive sound and playing must be experienced in person, to feel the ‚old good magic.‘ The artist, who could be talked about for a long time and has two albums with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel to his name, embodies the swing tradition in its hot variant.

The „Jazz Party“ program consists of songs with a strong emotional charge and expressive, danceable rhythms. We have „Jazz Party,“ based on the harmony of the New Orleans standard „When the Saints,“ and „Cuban Report,“ set in a rumba rhythm, as well as „Majazzur“ and „Czerwone Jadody,“ full of Slavic expression and vigor. To balance it all out, there’s Scandinavian melancholy. Most of these appeared on P.G.R.’s first two albums, „Enthuzjazzm“ and „Poezjazz.“
