100 years ago, on the night of April 21/22, 1920, a Polish-Ukrainian agreement was signed, which went down in history as the Polish-Ukrainian Alliance Pilsudski-Petlura. Poland recognized Ukraine’s right to independence and a common border on the river Zbrucz was agreed. The agreement was to be supplemented by a trade agreement and military convention. A joint military operation against Bolshevik Russia was aimed to liberation of Ukraine, creation of an independent Ukrainian state, where free elections were to be held.

This year, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Polish-Ukrainian agreement called the Pilsudski-Petlura Pact. Therefore, in cooperation with the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek and the Military Historical Bureau, we intend to recall in the coming days Polish-Ukrainian activities that led to the political-military alliance of independent Poland and independent Ukraine. And although we know how 1920 ended, we believe that events from the past should be a lesson to us, and their heroes take a prominent place in our shared memory.
