National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine invites: First performance of Zygmunt Stojowski’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Kyiv

National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine invites: First performance of Zygmunt Stojowski’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Kyiv. Conductor – Pavel Kotla (Poland-UK), soloist – Hennadiy Demyanchuk (Ukraine)

He studied at the faculty of symphonic and operatic conducting of the Chopin Warsaw Music University in the class of Prof. Ryszard Dudek and Prof. Boguslaw Madej. He completed his post graduation studies in the field of musicology and practical musical performance in the Oxford University. Pavel Kotla replenished his knowledge in the music courses in Vienna, Siena, Innsbruck and Bressanone, and from the legendary Finnish Professor Jorma Panula. For several years Kotla has been living in London where he currently works as the conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra.

Pavel Kotla worked with the most famous world conductors including Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Neville Marriner, Yury Temirkanov, and Andrew Parrott. All of them emphasize not only his talent, deep knowledge of music and well-honed skills, but also his great passion to music.

In addition to opera, modern music and classical repertoire, his creative interests also include medieval music.  In 1995, the year of 300th anniversary of Henry Purcell’s death, Pavel Kotla organized and conducted in Warsaw the concert of the Polish baroque instruments orchestra «Arte dei Suonatori», the first grand orchestra performance. In addition to UK and Poland, he conducted in Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Russia, and Brazil.

In March 2008 Pavel Kotla performed with the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) in the concert that opened the celebration ceremony of the 50th anniversary of the European Union Parliament. Thus he became the first Pole to conduct the European Union Youth Orchestra, alongside with such greats as Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Abbado, and Herbert von Karajan.
