Screening of Polish films at the Neighbourhood Cinema Festival in Uzhhorod

On August 17-20, the Neighborhood Cinema Festival in Uzhhorod will screen Polish films.

The festival program includes “Vika!” – a film by Agnieszka Zwiefka. Vika, a 84-year-old, shines as bright as the star of Warsaw nightclubs she is. A charismatic and electrifying woman whose energy is the envy of young people, she refuses to grow old. Vika had worked as a director of a youth detention center, to then start her DJ career. Her unconventional bearing inspires other elderly people to celebrate life and live it to the fullest.

“BREAD AND SALT” by Damian Kotsur tells the story of Tymek – a successful pianist who returns from Warsaw to his hometown for a summer vacay. In his hometown, time seems to have the consistency of sap. His younger brother Jacek is also a talented pianist, but instead of planning for the future, he kills time by hanging out with his friends. Tymek joins the company of his old friends but is quick to realize that the provincial routine is alien to him.
