Jerzy Pilch, the well-known Polish artist, passes away.
Pilch was a prominent writer, playwright and scriptwriter. He was one of the most popular contemporary Polish writers. Four of his books were nominees for the NIKE Literary Award – the most prestigious Polish literary prize.
In 2001, he won a prize for “The Mighty Angel”, a book about a writer and his alcoholic misadventures.
Pilch was a university lecturer for about a decade. He also developed a passion for writing.
He quickly earned his reputation as one of the most well-known Polish columnists. He wrote for a number of newspapers.
Jerzy Pilch was born in Wisla in southern Poland to a Protestant family and he spent the last years of his life in Kielce – a city in southern-central Poland where he died.
