Here is Muranow – a new exhibition

"Here is Muranow” is a new, temporary exhibition at the POLIN Museum - a journey in time and a plunge into the life of the city which reveals a fascinating life of one of Warsaw’s Jewish neighborhoods

“Here is Muranow” is a new, temporary exhibition at the POLIN Museum.

Before World War II, the neighborhood of Muranow was the hub of Jewish life in Warsaw.

The story of the Muranow neighborhood is told against the background of its interesting features discovered during a journey in time and a plunge into the life

of the city which reveals a fascinating, multi-layered life of one of Warsaw’s Jewish neighborhoods.

This is an unknown story about the past, the present and the future of the city and its inhabitants.

The exhibition takes us back to the 18th century, shows us regional and urban development plans at the time, visions of modern construction,

the ruins of the city after the war and it even shows us neighborhood kids playing in tenement yards.

The exhibition also presents Muranow’s contemporary lifestyle.

It is based on the work of two artists who had seen the archaeological artifacts such as cutlery dug up in the ruins of the city, glasses, work tools etc.

When touring the exhibition, we become familiar with the life of Warsaw Jews who represented the largest pre-war concentration of European Jewry,

we observe the vigorous trade, the shops and cafes and mourn the fate of the ghetto Jews.
