The performance Daniel by Stanisław Wyspiański returns to Jerusalem

A power-drunk king (Belshazzar) conquers a kingdom and exiles its poets. In all the grief and suffering a miraculous hand writes a message ‘in the language of the slaves’ on the wall. Who can read it? From the dungeon Daniel is brought up, what will the son of the defeated say to the ruler of an empire?

These are the mythical materials used by the Polish playwright, painter, and stained-glass master Stanisław Wyspiański in his play Daniel. The Libretto was performed in its world premiere in Jerusalem as part of the Kings Festival.

Under director Efim Rinenberg and thanks to the flowing translation by Miri Bornstein, the play is presented to the Israeli viewer as a Rock Opera with breath-taking visuals inspired by the ancient world and avant-garde sound.
