Salon Polin is a series of events organized by the Polish Institute with artists, creators, and cultural figures, offering an intimate and direct encounter with their work, their worlds of inspiration, and the various connections between creativity, culture, and Poland. So far, the Salon has hosted Adina Bar-On, Sabina Cegla, Agata Woźniczka, and Ofir Hovav.

This time, our Salon will be hosted at CRAFTED, a Tel Aviv creative space dedicated to making and traditional crafts, founded by Abigail Mucznik, a graduate of the Fashion Design Department at Shenkar, out of a love of crafts and a belief in the power of the creative process – learning, experimenting, working with our hands, and creating together.

Our first Atelier will be dedicated to Polish folk embroidery.

Embroidery is a rich and diverse part of Poland’s folk craft traditions. Over the years, different regions of Poland have developed distinctive styles characterized by colorful patterns, motifs inspired by nature and plants, rich compositions, and a variety of stitches and techniques. Beyond their beauty and aesthetics, folk crafts are also part of cultural memory – a way of passing knowledge, imagery, and traditions from one generation to the next.

During the workshop, we will take a closer look at Polish folk embroidery, learn the basics of traditional embroidery, and explore some of its key stitches. We will look at patterns and motifs from Polish tradition and use them as inspiration for our own creative work.

Each participant will create a personal embroidered project of their own design, combining inspiration from tradition with a personal and contemporary interpretation.

No previous embroidery experience is required. The workshop is open to everyone, including those who have never embroidered before, and offers an opportunity to discover this craft, learn a new technique, and enjoy an evening of shared creativity.
