The International Witold Gombrowicz Festival will begin on Saturday October 8 th and ends on Saturday October 15 th.
It includes a contest between dozens of artists worldwide concerning Gombrowicz (1904-1969) in a wide range of disciplines.
The festival is held in Radom, where the writer was born, and is supported by the city and the Polish Ministry of Culture.
The festival is focused on the works penned by Gombrowicz, who often used deep psychological insights, paradoxes, absurdist language and event anti-nationalist themes.
He wrote critically about the youth and Polish culture in general.
While he only gained recognition near the end of his days, today he is regarded as a main figure in Polish literary life.
