With the support of the Polish Institute, four Polish films will compete this year at Docaviv – The Tel Aviv International Documentary Film Festival, which will take place from May 22 to 31, 2025.
Three of them will compete in the Short Film Competition:
My Uncle, Leszek (dir. Maciej Miller) – An intimate documentary about a man who gives up his entire world to care for his mother, told through the eyes of his nephew who tries to understand the choice, the cost, and the love behind it.

Lift Lady (dir. Marcin Modzelewski) – A sensitive documentary about a woman who chose to spend her days working in a seemingly simple elevator job, revealing a rich inner world and a full life between the floors.

Bloodline (dir. Wojciech Węglarz) – A poetic and powerful look at a lone bison separated from its herd by a new border fence, and a story about freedom, belonging, and the human consequences of political decisions.

8th Day of Khamsin (dir. Zvika Gregory Portnoy) – The Israeli-Polish director Zvika Gregory Portnoy’s film will compete in the “Depth of Field” competition. This is a poetic documentary that blends rare archival footage, literary excerpts, and personal vision, tracing the stay of Polish writer Marek Hłasko in Israel during the 1950s – a time of inspiration, alienation, and self-searching in the heart of a young and tumultuous country.
