Artists from three continents will perform during the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music
Warsaw, Poland (June 16, 2021)
June 14, 2021 saw the meeting of the Qualification Committee of the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music. Ten pianists and twenty chamber music ensembles from Poland and six other countries qualified for the Competition.
– The call for applications coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has adversely affected all artistic initiatives and in particular the international ones. As the organizers of the event, we took a tremendous gamble, which has fortuitously paid off. The call for applications attracted more candidates than the first edition of the Competition in 2019. The list of participants includes representatives of Poland, Japan, the USA, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic. We have no doubt that our efforts will conclude with an elegant feast of Polish music in September, and would like to take this occasion to invite everyone to participate in the inauguration of the Competition, whether in person in Rzeszów or in front of your computer screens, as both the auditions and the laureates’ concert will be streamed live online, said Katarzyna Meissner, Director of the National Institute of Music and Dance.
The Qualification Committee, made up of Jarosław Drzewiecki, Andrzej Tatarski and Igor Pylatyuk, qualified the following pianists and chamber music ensembles for the first stage of the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music, which will take place on September 11-18, 2021 in Rzeszów (the participants are listed in alphabetical order):

– As the president of the jury in the chamber music ensembles category, I was delighted to learn that the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music has generated such considerable interest among chamber musicians. It goes to show the quality and appeal of Polish music among musicians and audiences alike. Under the current regulations, the Competition Commission qualified the admissible maximum of twenty top-notch ensembles for the Competition. We are also glad to see such diverse lineups, both in terms of size—from duos, through trios, quartets, and a quintet—and the proposed instrumentation, which will no doubt translate into a rich and captivating Competition repertoire, said Andrzej Tatarski before adjourning the selection proceedings.
Apart from the aforementioned participants, six more pianists and ten chamber music ensembles based in Poland were selected for the Competition as part of the Polish qualifiers, which took place in Warsaw on May 4-5, 2021. For a full list of candidates, see the link below:
