Maps Special Edition by Aleksandra Mizielińska & Daniel Mizieliński

10th anniversary of the ground-breaking book for children

Explore the world with this lavish new edition of the bestselling Maps. Released to mark the 10th anniversary of the very first edition, this book features 16 brand new maps and has new material on every page.

Each highly illustrated map details not only geographical features and political borders but also places of interest, iconic personalities, native animals and plants, local peoples, cultural events, and many more fascinating facts assorted with each region. It’s a celebration of the world, from its immense mountains to its tiny insects – and everything in between!

Both born in 1982 the Mizielińskis are partners in life and in art, illustrators who are associated with the revolution in the Polish children’s book market. Their bold style derives from comics and caricature, and their speciality is encyclopaedic books for children – exhaustive compendia of knowledge (in architecture, geography and art) in visually attractive forms.

Each one of their books trailblazes new trends and becomes an international best seller. So it was with Maps, which, apart from being one of the most frequently published Polish books abroad, has generated a worldwide interest in the art of cartography, and has been published in a combined total of over 3,000,000 copies. The duo has received numerous awards and distinctions for their book and Internet designs, including the prestigious international Bologna Ragazzi Award (2010), the French Prix Sorcières (2013) and the Italian Premio Andersen (2013). Daniel lectures at Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts, and both run hipopotamstudio.pl, which designs books, games, fonts, web pages, and apps.
