Become an oral history research volunteer (2hrs) per week, for a unique community project by the Museum of London.

Application Deadline – 20th October 2023 (application email below)

The Museum of London is looking for members of the Polish community to become volunteer community researchers for a unique oral history project! (Time requirement: Only 2 hours a week for 1-2 months)

* Deadline to apply – 20th October *, email below.

About the role:

The role if part of the Museum of London’s new ‘Collections for All’ project which is all about opening the museum’s collection to different communities across London.

This year, the museum is exploring its Oral History collection – which contains around 20 interviews from the Polish community in London, recorded between 1990-2005.

The museum is seeking volunteer researchers to come and listen to these stories and to do the following:

– Help the museum reflect on these stories with your own experience and expand Polish representation in our collection and museum

– Find out more about the museum and its collections as a volunteer with special access and benefits (including attending a workshop on creating your own podcasts!)

– Contribute to a work of art that will be presented in a public event in London next year

Previous experience of working or volunteering in a museum is not required, and volunteers do not need you to have any academic qualifications.

To get the most from this role, the museum is looking for volunteers who:

  • Are Polish or of Polish heritage
  • Have access to a computer and internet at home and feel comfortable using different applications (e.g. Zoom for video calls if needed, One Drive for reading transcripts and listening to the audio files)
  • Can ideally contribute at least 2 hours per week over one-two months
  • Suitable for volunteers aged 18+
