Apply for the Translators’ Collegium 2025

A residency programme run by the Polish Book Institute for stays in Krakow or Warsaw and open to all translators of Polish literature.

Deadline: September 30th, 2024

This programme is recommended by the Polish Cultural Institute in London.

The Polish Book Institute has an open call for the Translators’ Collegium program.

The study stay programme of the Translators’ Collegium is addressed to all translators of Polish literature, both those with a rich body of work and those who are just beginning their journey in translating Polish literature.

The candidates may apply for a one-month stay in Krakow (Translators’ Collegium at the Polish Book Institute, at 6 Z. Wróblewskiego Street) or in Warsaw at Tadeusz Konwicki’s former flat (at 1/68 Górskiego Street).

As part of the one-month study stay, the participant will receive:

• accommodation free of charge,
• reimbursement of travel costs (return trip),
• a daily allowance (100 PLN for each started day),
• help in organizing meetings with publishers or writers.

According to the rules of the Programme, the resident translator may be asked to give a guest lecture at universities. The topic of the lecture is decided jointly by the translator and the organizers.

In addition, the translator is required to prepare a report on the study visit, which may serve the organizers in their further activities promoting the Translator’s Collegium. The report should be submitted to the Book Institute on the last day of the stay.

The rules of a candidate’s application:

Candidates are invited to submit their applications by email. Please include the following information:

  • Application form
  • List of published translations
  • Recommendations (optional)

The application form can be found at the bottom of this page Instytut Książki (instytutksiazki.pl), as well as in the bookmark dedicated to the programme.

Only applications related to work on the translation of specific works will be considered, and not, for example, research or academic projects.
