This November, we invite you to a series of thought-provoking events featuring Polish poet and musician Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, whose work bridges art, activism, and historical remembrance. Kwiatkowski will shed light on pressing issues of ethics, memory, and human rights, from his unique perspective, which can also be seen through his poetry and music. 

About Kwiatkowski

Grzegorz Kwiatkowski, born in 1984 in Gdańsk, is a distinguished Polish poet and musician, renowned for his deeply thought-provoking explorations of history, memory, and ethics. You may recognize him as a member of the acclaimed band Trupa Trupa, which we’ve previously highlighted. His poetry, translated into multiple languages, has been featured at major literary festivals worldwide, earning him international acclaim.

More Light: Art Against Hate

  • 28 November 2024, 6 pm, Leo Baeck Institute, London
  • This lecture will cover the topic of using art to confront antisemitism, denialism, and violence. Drawing on his family’s history, references to his hometown Gdańsk, and his experience as an artist, Grzegorz will discuss the power of creative expression in preserving memory and combating hatred.

Art, Memory, and Humanity: Poetry Reading and Discussion

  • 29 November 2024, 4 pm, Mansfield College (University of Oxford)
  • During this event, Grzegorz Kwiatkowski will share readings from his book Crops and preview his forthcoming book Without an Orchestra. These works address themes of lasting historical trauma and the pursuit of justice and memory.

Grzegorz will also be part of a workshop, curated by the Ethox Centre in collaboration with Oxford Ethics and Humanities, a workshop inaugurating the “What About Exclusion?” series.
