Karolina Żyniewicz at ArtBomb Festival Doncaster 16-17 August

A FREE 2-day workshop with artist Karolina Żyniewicz linked to her ongoing project investigating how toxins, the poisonous substances produced by plants, can be used by humans as poisonous safeguards and natural weapons.

16-17 August, FREE, 11am – 4:30pm, ArtBomb and the Unitarian Church, 60 Hall Gate, DN1 3PB, Doncaster

This year’s theme, A Meaningful Use of Time, invites artists, audiences, thought-leaders, communities and dreamers to slow down, tune in, and ask: Why do we never seem to have enough time—and how can we reclaim it?

As part of this year’s festival, join Berlin-based artist, researcher and educator, Karolina Żyniewicz @zyniewica , for a or a FREE 2-day workshop entitled: ‘SELF DEFENCE’.

Interweaving ancient homeopathic practices and phytotoxicology with the current atmosphere of global threat and war, Karolina asks how defence practices can be learned from the natural world and how we should handle toxic plants in safe and responsible ways.

More details about the workshops:

Join us at ArtBomb’25 on Saturday 16 August for a guided walk into the wilds of Doncaster, where you’ll be given a whistle-stop tour of South Yorkshire’s diverse flora and learn how to identify toxins within different plant species using just your smartphone.

As Karolina’s co-creators, we return to Karolina’s lab installation at ArtBomb to extract plant juices (toxins) and soak threads with them. The next day, Karolina invites you to an embroidery workshop, where you’ll use these threads to craft your foraged plants into your own botanical talisman and symbolic piece of armour.
