Zofia Rydet: Sociological Record at The Photographers’ Gallery

The Photographers’ Gallery presents Zofia Rydet: Sociological Record, a landmark photographic exhibition chronicling decades of Polish domestic life through the lens of Rydet’s ambitious project.

10th October 2025 – 22 February 2026, The Photographers’ Gallery

From Friday, 10 October 2025 to Sunday, 22 February 2026, The Photographers’ Gallery presents Zofia Rydet: Sociological Record, a landmark photographic exhibition chronicling decades of Polish domestic life through the lens of Rydet’s ambitious project.

Beginning in 1978, when she was 67, Zofia Rydet set out to visit and photograph the interiors of Polish households often arriving unannounced, knocking on doors and asking permission before documenting the people, their surroundings, and how these changed over time.

Over the course of nearly three decades, she amassed almost 20,000 negatives; however, only a portion were printed during her lifetime. This exhibition features over one hundred prints, alongside books, personal letters, and archival material that together testify to the depth and breadth of her vision.

Admission is £10 (with concessions at £7); advance tickets cost £8.50 (concessions £6). Members enter free. Notably, Fridays after 5 pm are ticket‑free.

Venue: The Photographers’ Gallery, 16-18 Ramillies St, London W1F 7LW

This exhibition is part of the UK/Poland Season 2025, produced by The Photographers’ Gallery in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Zofia Rydet Foundation.
