He will share insights into to the life of a mural artist, how he secures commissions, and what it means to create art in public spaces.

This talk, Spotlight on East London, is part of our Kreative Talk series where we take a closer look at each speaker’s career journey, exploring the choices they made and the experiences that defined them.

Biography
A native of Chile, Otto Schade AKA ‘Osch’ first took his vibrant art to England in 2006. He began his career as an urban sculptor, but also ran an architectural practice alongside two colleagues while working in his homeland. However, it was his fascination with surrealist art and the masters of the past; Dali, Magritte, MC Escher, Giger, and Beksi ski that inspired his ongoing passion to paint.

Otto quickly discovered the local London street art scene in 2009, where he started painting pieces boasting a sharp and ironic twist. He paints themes in both his Orb-style and distinct ribbon-style, that have become very recognisable and unique – using ‘Osch’ as his signature. Since 2009, he has participated in art festivals, including the “Upfest” in Bristol (UK), “Sand, Sea and Spray” (UK) in Blackpool, “City of Colours” in Birmingham (UK), Crush in Denver (US), “40 Grad Festival in Dusseldorf, Art base in Neustrelitz, “Hometown” in Berlin ” and “Monumenta” in Leipzig (Germany).

Kreative Talk Series

Listen to the stories behind the creatives and how they are shaping the world. We take a closer look at each speaker’s career journey, exploring the choices they made and the experiences that defined them. This is an opportunity for students and early-year creative practitioners to learn about various professions, including art, architecture, music, and fashion, and how each approaches creativity differently. We’re here to help break down the barriers in the creative industries and inspire the next generation of change.
