Silk Street Sinfonietta Concert ft. works by Lutoslawski & Panufnik

A programme of 20th century string orchestra music including Lutoslawski's Funeral Music, Panufnik's Landscape as well as his Violin Concerto.

The Silk Street Sinfonietta are a group of young musicians composed entirely of students from Guildhall School of Music and drama who perform 20th and 21st century repertoire.

Their upcoming concert on the 9th of January is a programme of 20th century string orchestra music. It will include Lutoslawski’s Funeral Music, Panufnik’s Landscape as well as his Violin Concerto (with RPS prize winner Violetta Suvini) and works by Bartok and Crawford.

Conducted by Antoine Veillerette and featuring soloist Violetta Suvini.

Ruth Crawford-Seeger — Andante for Strings
Witold Lutosławski — Musique funèbre
Béla Bartók — String Quartet No. 4 movts 3+4 (arr. for chamber ensemble)
Andrzej Panufnik — Landscape
Andrzej Panufnik — Violin Concerto (soloist: Violetta Suvini)

This concert brings together modernist works for strings alongside Panufnik’s violin concerto.

An evening with the author and the co-translator of "A Calligraphy of Days", a poetry volume published by Seagull Books. Krzysztof and Piotr will discuss the book and their collaboration, they will also read extracts in Polish and in English.
