June 27th – August 15th 2026, Sarah Myerscough Gallery, The Schoolhouse, Upper Floor, London W1K 6TG
Sarah Myerscough Gallery is thrilled to introduce Beneath The Skin, the highly anticipated second solo show by acclaimed ceramic sculptor Aneta Regel.
Featuring over twenty radical new vessels, this exhibition blows open the experimental concepts from her hit 2023 show, Memory Landscape. It directly expands on what art historian Tanya Harrod famously termed the “memory-work” of Regel’s art.
What to look out for:
The Big Shift: While her older work focused on dramatic exterior textures, Beneath The Skin completely prioritises the hollow, mysterious internal spaces of the objects.
Glacial Echoes: The textured surfaces channel the harsh winters, sharp frozen terrain, and rural folklore of Regel’s native Poland.
Growth & Decay: Each piece captures an exhilarating, raw recall of shifting northern landscapes.
In her latest exhibition Beneath The Skin, ceramic artist Aneta Regel forces us to look inside the form. Her vessels don’t just sit on a shelf, they demand human contact. As critic Tanya Harrod beautifully noted, vessels draw their strength from “cupped hands, from human contact, from human scale.”

For Regel, mass and physical weight are just as vital as shape. She builds up heavy layers of material, intentionally contrasting smooth porcelain with rough stone. Under the intense, volatile heat of the kiln, these dissonant elements melt, fuse, and push their way to the surface.
The Magic of a Non-Linear Process
- The Build: Hand-made using traditional coiling and slab-building techniques.
- The Ingredients: Raw rocks, unprocessed ceramic, vibrant pigments, and fragments from past broken works.
- The Routine: Every single object is dried and fired multiple times.
Driven by a rigorous understanding of her medium and a brilliant instinct for experimentation, Beneath The Skin is a testament to the beautiful, unpredictable potential of clay.
