Three Panufnik Composers

One legendary musical family, two completely different genres. Classical composer Roxanna Panufnik and electronic producer Jem "Stone" Panufnik have officially teamed up, blending acoustic tradition with modern soundscapes in a stunning new collaborative release.

Little did legendary Polish composer Andrzej Panufnik know that both of his children would follow in his footsteps. However, they have taken vastly different musical paths.

Today, classical composer Roxanna Panufnik and her electronic record producer brother Jem “Stone” Panufnik have joined forces. The duo has just released a new chill-out track titled Lyra’s Lullaby.

A Family Collaboration

The piece bridges the gap between classical tradition and modern electronic soundscapes. Roxanna first arranged the beautiful Croatian lullabyLjuljaj, mi sinefor trombone and piano. Jem then worked his production magic, building a soothing, scintillating soundscape around the acoustic core.

The track features a stellar performance by award-winning trombonist Peter Moore. You can stream the full track online now.

Poignant New Classical Release

In addition to the sibling collaboration, Roxanna has also launched a deeply moving classical piece titled ‘My Man.’

The work sets a profoundly poignant World War II poem by Anna Świrszczyńska, a resistance fighter during the Warsaw Uprising. The lyrics tell the heartbreaking story of a woman wishing she could hide her sweetheart inside her belly like an unborn child to protect him from the war outside.

Built around a traditional Polish folk song, the piece features a world-class lineup:

  • Mary Bevan: Award-winning soprano performing in both English and Polish
  • Brodsky Quartet: The world-renowned string ensemble
  • Zeynep Özsuca: Acclaimed concert pianist
