Gala Premiere – “Rescuing Chopin – A True Story in Two Acts”

A new play telling the true story of the rediscovery of a lost statue of Chopin on London's Southbank, a post WWII gift from the Polish government to the UK, which was found with the help of the homeless.

A statue of Chopin on London’s Southbank disappears for 37 years – its discover and return is only possible with the help of the homeless of Cardboard City – the remarkable story is the subject of a new play written by Dr Mark Stella-Sawicki MBE and directed by renowned British director Timothy Crow, featuring Chopin’s music played by pianist, Janine Parsons, Head of Elgar School of Music in Worcester.

Written in early 2020, “Rescuing Chopin” – A True Story in 2 Acts is dedicated to the human endeavor of finding and restoring the missing Statue of Chopin originating from Southbank, London which disappeared for 37 years!

The statue was given by Polish Government to the UK as a ‘thank you’ for their help in WW2. Discover its return on 18th May 2011 to its original place with the help of the Homeless of Cardboard City! The Times newspaper on the day reported the whole story as: “Search ends on a High Note”.
