Polish State Certificate Exams in Polish as a Foreign Language

More information about registering for the next edition of the Polish State Certificate Examinations in the Polish Language, organised by the only accredited centre in the UK on 16th and 17th November 2024.

16th & 17th November, Polish Social and Cultural Association, London

The Polish State Certificate in Polish as a Foreign Language is the only state document that can officially confirm one’s proficiency in Polish.

It can be obtained by taking a State Certificate Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language, which is a standardised test of Polish language proficiency for non-native Polish speakers.

All foreigners and Polish citizens permanently residing abroad may take the examination regardless of where, how, and how long they have prepared for the examination.

Proficiency in Polish is defined as the ability to understand modern written and spoken Polish and use Polish speaking and writing skills.

The State Certificate confirming fluency in the Polish language is a formal requirement in the process of applying for Polish citizenship. The Certificate is also an asset for foreigners who wish to work in Poland.

The examinations are organized by State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language and conducted by accredited centres. There are 60 such centres in the world and only 15 outside Poland.

In the UK, the only accredited centre to conduct examinations is the School of Polish Language and Culture – Polword, based in London.

The First State Certificate Examinations in Polish as a Foreign Language were administered at Polword in 2017.
