Starting from February 2026, the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv will host the group writing workshop “Poland – New Memories”, led by Shai Schneider-Eilat – an Israeli poet, editor, director, and theatre teacher.
The workshop is intended for those who wish to write in Hebrew, process, and explore personal memories connected to Poland: family, biographical, or cultural memories – both those preserved over many years and those reconstructed from a distance in time. No prior experience in literary writing is required; however, a genuine desire to write and curiosity about memory and language are essential.
Starting on 20 February, over the course of six meetings (held every two weeks), participants will deepen their memoir writing practice, read selected texts, develop their work, and practice memoir writing and editing techniques, while shaping a personal voice within a broader cultural context.
The workshop will take place in an intimate group setting, with an emphasis on shared reading, discussion, and mutual editing.
At the end of the workshop, selected texts written during the project will be collected into a book, to be released in print by the Polish Institute.
The number of places is limited, and participation is subject to a preliminary selection process.
Interested applicants are asked to submit a short writing exercise, in accordance with the guidelines provided in the registration form.
