International Holocaust Memorial Day at the Tel Aviv & Jerusalem Cinematheques

A special event held at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque which will include a screening of the film The Passenger by Andrzej Munk and a lecture about the Holocaust in films

We will mark the International Holocaust Memorial Day during a special evening held at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque on Thursday January 27 at 7 p.m.

The event includes a screening of the 1963 film The Passenger by Andrzej Munk.

Polish with Hebrew subtitles.

In addition to the film, a brief lecture about the Holocaust as reflected in the movies will be held by Moreshet Center.

The Screening in Tel Aviv will be followed by one in Jerusalem on February 3rd – Jerusalem Cinematheque  on 19:00

The International Holocaust Memorial Day is marked on January 27, the date in which the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp was liberated from Nazi Germany in 1945.

The date was marked by other nations, such as the UK and the German Federal Republic,  before the UN decision from November 1, 2005.

The first year this day was marked by the global community was 2006 and the UN decision was accepted unanimously.
