ALWAYS TOGETHER is the title of a special concert to aid Ukrainian Artists to be held on Sunday, 22 May 19:30 pm at the YMCA Auditorium, King David Str 26, Jerusalem.
This is an Israeli-EU project with top-line musicians from Israel, Europe, and the US taking part pro bono.
This evening is co-led by the Jerusalem Lyric Opera with the support of the Jerusalem Municipality, the Polish Institute in Tel Aviv, the Lithuanian Embassy in Tel Aviv and Hebrew University.
The concert – which will be held as a charity event with all profits from ticket sales meant to support artists from Ukraine suffering due to the terrible war raging in their homeland since February – will include highlights of classic opera arias by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Polish composer Moniuszko, Lithuanian composer Stasys Šimkus and many others. All arias will be sung by world-class singers. Among them Israel Opera soprano Ira Bertman, mezzo-soprano Marta Matalon from the Lithuanian Opera, German soprano Isabel Marie Haas, tenor David Goldberg and more. The Hebrew University Students Choir will perform as well conducted by Dr. Anat Rubinstein.
An exhibition of the paintings by the famous Ukrainian artist, Maria Prymachenko, will be presented before the concert. Her universally lauded works were badly damaged during the Russian military attack on Kiev and were rescued due to civilians who risked their lives in the process. Her naïve-iconic works became famous world-wide during her lifetime and she was hailed as a genius by some of the finest artists at the time.
