Tribute to Janusz Morgenstern at the Human & Nature Galil Film Festival

The Polish Institute is proud to be part of the first edition of the Human & Nature Galil Film Festival - an international, groundbreaking festival, operating in the heart of the Galilee

The first edition of the Human & Nature Galil Film Festival will focus on the theme “Protected Spaces”, and as part of it, the public will have an extraordinary occassion to see debut films, meet the leading creators and participate in special events that will provoke thought and connect the personal and the universal side of life.

A special Polish event of the Festival will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 4:00 p.m. – a tribute evening to Janusz “Kuba” Morgenstern, a Polish-Jewish film director, screenwriter and producer, one of the founders of the Polish Film School.

In the program:

  • “Yellow Scarf” – a powerful drama that takes place on Christmas Eve, a film about a respectable man struggling with his addiction to alcohol
  • “Variation on a Yellow Scarf” – a short documentary that brings the personal story of the film’s director who is dealing with alcohol addiction, inspired by Morgenstern’s film
  • Kuba – an exciting journey following the life and work of Janusz Morgenstern – from childhood during the Holocaust to the pinnacle of Polish cinema
