Open call for the Best History Book in the foreign-language devoted to the history of Poland

A competition for the Best History Book in the foreign-language publication category on the history of Poland released in 2023 and 2024

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has launched a competition for the Best History Book in the foreign-language publication category on the history of Poland.

Books released in 2023 and 2024 are eligible to be submitted in the competition. The deadline for submission is 31st of August 2025.

 

To be eligible for the competition, a publication must be a book (a scientific monograph, a popular science publication or an edition of sources) by no more than three authors.

Laureates will be awarded a cash prize of EUR 10,000 for ranking first, EUR 5,000 for ranking second and EUR 2,500 for ranking third.

The competition prizes are awarded by the Foreign Minister at the request of The Competition Chapter. The results of the Competition will be announced no later than 11th of November 2025.

 

How to submit a publication:

To participate in the competition, you must send your publication by 30th of June 2025 (date of mail stamp or time stamp on e-mail deemed to be date of delivery).

Entries must include an electronic copy of the book in pdf format or an e-book in a format commonly available at bookstores. You may also send 6 hard copies of the publication, however electronic books are preferred. You may enclose published peer reviews, opinions and publisher’s reviews if available. There are no limits on the language of the publication, however if an English translation is available, we kindly ask you to include it in your submission.

The publications may be submitted in the following ways:

  • E-book or pdf file to be sent the following address: ddk.sekretariat@msz.gov.pl, in an e-mail titled “FA Minister competitive call for Best History Book 2025
  • Hard copies should be send in an envelope marked “FA Minister competitive call for Best History Book 2025” to the following address:

           Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

           Department of Cultural Diplomacy and Promotion of Poland,

           J. Ch. Szucha 23, 00-580 Warszawa, Poland

  • Hard copies may be submitted to the Correspondence Register of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, entry from Litewska Street, Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

 

* A written consent of the author or authors to participate in the competition, and their contact details, as well as written consent to the processing of personal data must be enclosed with the entry.

* The MFA will not return the copies of publications entered for the competition.

Summer picnic of the Polish community on
