A cultural morning with Arieh Golan and Yossi Kantz

You are invited to an engaging morning at the Polish Institute’s library with a journalist Arieh Golan, who will host Yossi Kantz — a cultural figure, photographer, actor with an extraordinary life story

The Polish Institute and the Israel-Poland Cultural Relations Association invite you to a fascinating morning with a respected journalist  Arieh Golan, who will host Yossi Kantz — a cultural figure, photographer, actor with an extraordinary life story.

Yossi was born in Lower Silesia, Poland, and immigrated to Israel in 1957 during the co-called Gomulka Aliyah. He grew up in Kibbutz Ruhama, served in the paratroopers, and studied photography and acting in Israel. Throughout his life, he has been exposed to diverse cultural worlds — from the Polish and Yiddish traditions of his family home to the broader Israeli cultural scene.

The conversation will address questions that have accompanied generations of immigrants:

  • What did Polish Jewry bring to Israeli culture?

  • How has Polish culture influenced Israeli culture?

Through Kantz’s eyes — who is both a witness, a creator, and a bearer of intergenerational messages — we will understand how cultural identity in Israel is formed, and how the values and memories of immigrants, particularly from Poland, have been integrated.
